The Healers of Tomorrow Gathering, a health care profession summer camp for indigenous youth funded by the IGA, took place at MUN’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook this past summer from August 13-20. IGA funding allowed 9 students from the Mushuau Innu First Nation, Nunatsiavut, NunatuKavut, and the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation to attend the program.

The event was designed to aspire indigenous youth to consider a health care profession. At the same time, the aim was to build self-esteem through recognizing the richness of culture inherent among their indigenous groups as well as the wealth of knowledge about health and well being.

The IGA is very pleased to have helped make this project a reality, in partnership with MUN’s Faculty of Medicine and other contributors!
