The Mount Nascopi Ski Club, founded in 2002, has long been a hub for winter recreation in the Labrador Straits. Over the past 20 years, the volunteer organization has developed a high-quality ski program, primarily for children and youth, while offering recreational opportunities for all ages.

While the club’s roots are in winter recreation, the vision has expanded to create a year-round outdoor experience. The cub has already upgraded a portion of its trail for walking, hiking, running, and biking in the off-season. The current project’s focus is to complete the lower half of the trail, transforming it into a 5.5 km all-season loop.

With the support of the International Grenfell Association, the Mount Nascopi Ski Club has made significant progress on this project. The upgrades include clearing the trail, installing culverts, and adding gravel and stone. These upgrades will improve the trail’s overall durability and make it easier to groom during the winter. Once the project is completed the trail will offer a longer skiing and snowshoeing season, while also offering a great location for hiking and biking.

The completion of the trail project will be significant for the club. It will allow residents of the Labrador Straits and Quebec Lower North Shore to have an all-season trail to expand their recreation options and support physical and mental well-being.

The International Grenfell Association is proud to have contributed to the success of this project, which will help enhance the quality of life for residents in the region. With the club’s continued efforts and the community’s support, the Mount Nascopi Ski Club is well on its way to reaching its goals.
