The Awesome Achievement Program at the St. Anthony Boys and Girls Club has proved to be a huge success, drawing local youth for structured, supervised recreational and educational programming that encourages youth to lead active, healthy lives.
Participants learn from workshops on healthy eating, positive body image, anti-bullying, self-esteem, and leadership, and engage in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, such as jump rope, dance, hockey, sliding, trail walking, and ball games.
With a $30,000 grant from the IGA, the program is able to offer healthy after-school snacks to the approximately 70 children who participate in the program on a daily basis.
According to Colleen Loder, of the St. Anthony Boys and Girls Club, this program is “life-changing” for many youth in the local area and is a “success story” the organization hopes to continue to keep growing a healthy community.
