The Forever Young 50+ Club located in St. Lunaire-Griquet was awarded a grant in 2016. As a result of their grant, the club has carried out many activities, including purchasing supplies and hosting workshops for rug hooking, cast netting, and snowshoeing.
The group has visited the St. Anthony 50+ Club a couple of times and hopes to visit the Flowers Cove 50+ Club in the future (when weather permits). They have also visited Thrombolites in Flowers Cove.
Each meeting of the club typically involves some kind of exercise, and once a month, an aerobics instructor visits. The group also hopes to have a lawyer visit to discuss wills and the power of attorney.
Cathy MacDonald, the Forever Young 50+ Club’s President, says the funds “have gone a long way in obtaining equipment and supplies for use by the seniors in our area”. She says the project will continue in the future; there has been positive feedback on the club’s existence and membership has increased since its inception.
