The International Grenfell Association (IGA) is excited to support ULM Minor Baseball Corp. with a grant to expand its youth baseball programming in Upper Lake Melville. Founded in 2023, ULM Minor Baseball successfully completed its first season, offering programming from May to September for 163 children across various age groups. The program consisted of groups from ages of U7 to U15, with a special program for females ages U11-U15.

With the help of the IGA funding this year, ULM Minor Baseball will have the ability to purchase essential equipment, enhance coach training, and improve organizational outreach, helping the program meet the high demand from local youth. Additionally, ULM Minor Baseball is looking to establish a brand for the team by creating a team logo and a website. The organization is looking to represent Upper Lake Melville at a provincial tournament for the first time, giving these young athletes a chance to develop their skills on a larger stage.

In collaboration with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay for facility access and maintenance, ULM Minor Baseball has seen overwhelming community engagement and volunteer support. This year’s IGA grant will boost the organization’s commitment to offering a welcoming, supportive environment for players of all skill levels, ensuring that every child has the chance to discover the joy and camaraderie of baseball.

The IGA is proud to support ULM Minor Baseball’s mission to grow youth sports in the region and promote active lifestyles for children and families.
