St. Lewis Academy has been a valued part of the community since opening its doors in 1990, providing students from kindergarten to Grade 12 with a learning environment that encourages both academic and personal growth. The school focuses on creating positive learning experiences that prepare students for future opportunities.

With funding support from the International Grenfell Association (IGA), St. Lewis Academy was able to provide hands-on learning opportunities for students through its skilled trades project. The grant focused on providing the tools and resources needed to support technology and skilled trades courses. The grant gave students the opportunity to gain practical experience beyond the design process and allowed them to see projects through from start to finish.

Before this grant, the school did not have the equipment needed to support this type of learning. Through the grant, St. Lewis Academy was able to establish a pop-up workshop equipped with tools that opened the door to more applied learning opportunities. This created new possibilities for courses and activities related to skilled trades, and other hands-on projects.

The project has supported students in Grades 6 to 12 by helping them build practical skills, become more familiar with tools, and gain confidence through experience. In addition to benefiting students within the school, the project has also strengthened opportunities for community connection by creating a space where hands-on learning can have a broader local impact.

By supporting this project, the IGA has helped expand educational opportunities at St. Lewis Academy and encouraged greater exposure to skilled trades in St. Lewis. Projects like this help students develop valuable life skills while creating meaningful, practical learning experiences that can benefit them for years to come.
