RootsofEmpathy

The mission of the IGA is to provide funds in support of initiatives that benefit the health, education, social, and cultural well-being of the people of Northern Newfoundland and coastal Labrador, working in partnership with government and other agencies. Consequently, the IGA funded a Guidance Counsellor from Flowers Cove, who is nearly finished her certification, which means that she can complete as many programs as she is able. This year, she is delivering two programs in the current school year: one at Canon Richard’s Memorial in Flower’s Cove and one at Viking Trail Academy in Plum Point.

The IGA also supported two other instructors who wished to obtain this training, a Guidance Counsellor from St. Anthony and a Family Resource Centre Social Worker from  Happy Valley Goose Bay.  The new Instructors work closely with a Roots of Empathy Mentor as they deliver their first Roots of Empathy Program throughout the 2022-23 school year.

We look forward to hearing about their accomplishments and seeing more lovely photos!
