This past year, the IGA funded two grants enabling Canon Richards Memorial Academy and Viking Trail Academy to start band programs! With these grants, the schools were able to purchase various band equipment such as flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and percussion equipment!

Ms. Emily Emberton is the music teacher at both Canon Richards Memorial Academy and Viking Trail Academy. She is currently running the band program and has the following to say about these recent grants:

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the International Grenfell Association. Without the grants we received from them we would never have been able to start band programs at Canon Richards Memorial Academy or Viking Trail Academy. It has been so exciting to see how engaged the students are with the early stages of these programs! The students were very excited when the instruments arrived, and can’t wait to spend more time on their instruments. I am very happy, and grateful, to be able to offer the opportunity to participate in a band program to my students. Band programs are unique learning experiences and it is wonderful to be able to have these programs at Viking Trail Academy and Canon Richards Memorial Academy.”
