This year, the IGA awarded a $6900 grant to the Grenfell Historical Society in St. Anthony for a project entitled “Cultural and Historical Social Programs”. These programs aim to get residents in St. Anthony to connect and socialize again, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many opportunities to do so.
The Cultural and Historical Society Program will have:
- storytelling events
- craft days in the Lady Anne’s tearoom followed by a social with hot beverages
- a Touton and Tea event will be provided as another event, where the seniors will have the option to invite a friend.
- rug hooking
- quilting
- knitting
- embroidery
- crafting
- snowshoeing
- will all be offered throughout the duration of the winter
- Living and Giving community activity event will include a tour of the Grenfell Properties, which include a 15 minute video, the two floor exhibit followed by creating a gift to donate to the local food bank. Some of the seniors of this area have a connection to the Grenfell Mission and could tell their own stories.
The IGA is very pleased to have supported this worthwhile initiative!
