Recently, the IGA funded a grant through the Forteau Fire Brigade, to offer a “Regional Firefighter 1
Training Program”.
This project is one of three similar grants that the IGA awarded for regional training of this type, with other training to occur in Mary’s Harbour and on the Northern Peninsula.
Recently, there were nine days of training, which turned out to be a huge success!
The training instructor was especially impressed by the group of firefighters saying that “they were the best group they have ever taught. They were fully engaged and willing to take on anything.”
With the knowledge and skills obtained from this training, the communities in the Labrador Straits region are stronger and better prepared when providing fire services.
The IGA is extremely pleased and impressed with the outcomes of this project, and thanks the Forteau Fire Brigade for taking the lead in this project, on behalf of fire fighters in the area!
