The Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Inc. (LHAFA) has been a cornerstone of promoting outdoor recreational activities and fostering a connection with nature in Labrador since its incorporation as a not-for-profit organization in December 2010. With a mission to engage the community through cultural, educational, and safety-oriented programs, LHAFA has developed a range of facilities and initiatives to support hunters, fishers, trappers, and outdoor enthusiasts while emphasizing conservation and sustainable practices.
Thanks to the generous support of grants from the International Grenfell Association (IGA), LHAFA has successfully completed a significant phase of its boating marina project situated just outside Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The funding enabled the development of enhanced marina infrastructure, which has already begun to positively impact the local community and economy. The project included the construction of a new marina terminal facility and additional improvements that provide essential services for boating and tourism visitors.
The marina now is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts and tourists, offering a gateway to explore the natural beauty and history of the Upper Lake Melville area. By improving access to the region’s waterways, the project has helped boost local tourism and provided opportunities for visitors to connect with the cultural and ecological richness of Labrador.
The IGA is proud to support projects that enrich communities and promote opportunities for growth, connection, and development. By funding initiatives like the LHAFA marina project, the IGA continues its commitment to fostering vibrant and sustainable communities in Northern Newfoundland and Coastal Labrador. Through its continued support, the IGA helps empower local organizations (such as LHAFA) to create lasting positive change and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
