The French Shore Historical Society is a non-profit organization founded to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the communities of Conche, Croque, Grand Oies/St. Julien’s and Main Brook of the Northeast Coast of Newfoundland.

On July 26, 2011 the society opened the Centre for Textile Art in Conche, whose purpose it is to encourage the art of handmade textile crafts and promote the history of textile-based traditions, especially of the Great Northern Peninsula.

A recent $9,400 grant from the IGA, in support of the Centre for Textile Art, has been put towards workshops for this culturally-relevant practice. This will continue to help promote employment opportunities, economy benefits, and tourism potential of the Great Northern Peninsula.
