It is amazing what can happen in just one day. On June 22, 2013, about 250 volunteers from Cook’s Harbour and nearby communities on the Northern Peninsula, including Boat Harbour and Wild Bight, came together to build a playground at James Cook Memorial School.
A $10,000 grant from the IGA allowed the Western School District to realize its goal of establishing a structure that fosters community connection, physical fitness, and recreation.
Where the children and youth of this region once had no access to a recreation facility within a 53 km radius, they now have their own safe, healthy, and accessible play and recreational environment for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
