Erik O’Brien, originally from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, is an Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering student at MUN’s St. John’s Campus. After receiving his engineering degree, he aims to receive his “P.Eng” designation in NL. This designation, which stands for “professional engineer”, will allow him to practice engineering in the province.
Erik says he tries to be involved as much as possible in the Engineering Society and faculty in general. He is currently a member of MUN SailBOT, a group that designs, builds, and programs sail boats to compete against other schools in a variety of competitions.
Erik also notes that he wishes to spend the majority of his career in Newfoundland and Labrador, saying it is a “greatly rewarding place to stay and work”.
